A very sensitive retelling of this story by Christine San Josc. This modern fantasy tale is well loved universally. Although there are so many versions of this story. It still has universal appeal.
ReplyDeleteYes it does have many version of the story. however I feel a sense of sympathy and sadness towards the little girl as well as a feeling of relief .
ReplyDeleteNice story so heart warming. Love how everytime she lit the candles something magical happened.
ReplyDeleteIt shows the innocence of her nature and spirit
ReplyDeleteBeautifully illustrated. Bold pictures good for story telling, helps students to understand text.
ReplyDeleteYes I felt as if I was apart of the story. They say pictures say a thousand words I guess this book tells it all. You didn't have to read to get an understanding of the story. Great book.
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations fit the story beautifully and it will allow the students in the tropical countries to visualize themselves in the story. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteyes in my opinion this story could and have taken place in real life.
ReplyDeleteThe genre Modern Fantasy exemplifies the six basic fantasy moptifs and so qualifies as a classic fairt tale.

ReplyDeleteThe best I have ever read must share with my Grade ones when I get back home.
ReplyDeleteThe book is not multicultral as can be observed from the illustrations but does have a universal appeal .It inspires hope and has a strong plot.
ReplyDeleteCAN EVEN BE FOR MY GRADE THREE CLASS WHEN WE ARE DISCUSSING OTHER NEEDS EXAMPLE LOVE SHE NEEDED FROM HER FATHER AND ONLY GOT IT FROM HER GRANDMOTHER.
ReplyDeleteThis story can be used with third or fourth graders. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteA lot of morals to teach from this story.
ReplyDeleteThe Illustrations depicts her father as an alcoholic. No care in the world for his little girl
ReplyDeleteYES BECAUSE SHE WAS ALSO AFRAID TO GO HOME THAT IS WHY SHE SLEPT ON THE ROAD.
ReplyDeleteThis story can be used to show caring and sharing, especially around Christmas time when some people have so much while have very little or nothing at all. It teaches us to have a heart for the less fortunate.
ReplyDeleteyes because at the end the illustrator refers to the same family before she died and after.
