  1. I really enjoyed the book.As you know it was not my first choice when we were deciding which book to choose. But i'm glad I was outnumbered.
I'm really developing a love for modern fantasy books. I find the book very interesting and I like theway in which my imagination was streched as I visualize every animals that was present in the house. I felt as ifI was there with them playing the game and experiencing the adventure.

This modern fantasy adventure: Jumanji seemed real when the characters in the story appeared in their living room as they played the game.

As I read, I find that all children no matter the age group will enjoy this adventure, I know i did. The language was manageable for the age group it was intended [9-12] . The illustrations in the book allows you to see vivdly how exciting and real the characters were and all the things that were happening.

I realized that the illustrations were in black and white. Why do you think this was so?

  3. Hi Ver and Mazie,
I agree with Ver that the book was an enjoyable one. No wonder it was awarded the Caldecott award. The colour I believe is used to set the tone and the mood. I beleive the children will appreciate the pictures because of the effect it will have on them. The text and illustrations are woven together to communicate the meaning. I also think the pictures were illustrated as they were, to depict tension and adventure.

  4. Hi Carolyn,
I agree with you.Eventhough the pictures are illustrated in black and white, it did not distract/take away from the story.

  8. Hi Mazie,
welcome to blogging. Peter's face seem to be saying, should we tell the truth, or let it be.

  9. Hi all,
I don't belive Peter could have told a truth, as no one would believe him, which makes the book a fanasy. The pictures for me though had homour and suspense. I think it was funny when the tour guide got lost.
