  1. Latoya I was so indulge as I read this story Town Mouse, Country Mouse written by Jan Brett.I remember reading this book so many times as a child. The cover illustrations are beautiful as they gave a contrasting view of the the two mice. This comparison was evident in their setting and also in their attire.Comparison was also depicted on the first page where the city life was described with a lot of light and business while words to describe the coutry were quiet, peaceful and has clean air.
This classic tale of a town mouse and a country mouse takes on a new dimension in the imaginative and talented hands of Jan Brett. She introduces two engaging mice couples eager to get away from their everyday lives, but are plunged into unexpected adventures around every corner.Latoya, did you enjoy this story?

  2. This traditional literature tale is filled with suspense and humor, lush green country scenes alternate with the elegant details of a fine Victorian townhouse, making this a breathtaknig beautiful picture book. This story is so real and applicable to humans. Many times we are not contented with our lives, so we yearn to be like others. The interesting thing is- A lot of other persons wished they had our lives. As I read I reflect on two common sayings; 'You don't know what you have until you loose it', and 'All that glitter is not gold'.

  4. Looking at the scenes Jan Brett depicted in the setting I find that they represent the culture in which this tale is told. Although the story is fictional, the basic trait of innocence and cultural diversity is represented in the mice exchanging homes not considering that the culture of both lifestyles would be different. There the author credibly illustrated that we are each living within a certain culture and sometimes long for what we see. She subtly introduce the theme of appreciation in how the experienced they encountered helped them to appreciate their own . Any further insights Pamelia

  5. The setting of this story was fictionally real portraying cultural diversity. This would make an excellent story writing activity lesson for my students. I see children in even the lower primary school grade responding to the text in readers’ theatre, picture reading activities, drawing, creating poems, and creating dialogues for the aside pictures and extension writing activities. The older children in addition could also do comparing and contrasting of the socio economic status of the different groups depicted in the story.
