  1. Hey Pam we are at the second book , the Caldecott. The book White Snow Bright Snow written by Alvin Tresselt and illustrated by Roger Duvoisin is quite a diverse book . The book displays a very eclectic choice of colours . I believe the colours in the book depicts anticipation and mystery yet with an hint of hope indicted by the the sprse use of red , white and yellow.

  2. Can you believe it girl? It feels so good. The pictures are very colourful, interesting and engaging.Illustration and text are arranged in a purposeful manner. I like how the characters are created in motion hence pupils can easily understand the text and identify with the illustration. This is a very good book to teach the concepts of community helpers and verbs (Grade 3 curriculum)..

  3. Latoya I like the rich diversity being explored in this Caldecott book.Children who have never experienced snow will garner invaluable knowledge about snow in other countries. They will see the before, during and after effects of snow. I stongly believe that children should be given opportunities to experience rich cultural diversities in all classrooms. This will help them to appreciate themselves and also to appreciate others.Latoya how do you think this book is applicable to children?

  4. Brilliant Pam i was here pondering how applicable the book would be to children i realize that the book highlights community workers present in all communities. The book boasts a poem at the beginning of the story which sets a foundation for anyone not familiar with snow to vicariously experience the effect of the element. Children can relate to the book as i believe the language is simple and the pictures effective in adding interpretation to the text. This book could be easily integrated into our grades five and six curriculum and apprecited by the reader and the non reader for its aesthetic. Any other insights Pam

  5. This caldecott book could be used with all grades but I would specifically use it with grades 3-6. Other concepts that could be taught are weather, temperature and seasons. This book should definitely evoke great interest within readers as it appeals to all the senses. This book allows for individuals to learn about one’s culture and also learn about the culture of others.. The story line was so rich and the themes so prolific that you are captivated from beginning to end. The imagination stands out and students can really identify with various occupations, how the persons attire for work, so on. The story is over for us, Latoya, but I continue to applaud the rich, colorful, childlike and easy going style of this book that gripped both of us. The imagery was real, the language was simple yet beautiful. What a great story! This book is truly deserving of its award.

  6. No wonder this book got an award . The illustrator and writer work at providing a vicarious experience through a truly eclectic and beguiling manner. The book captivates the reader subtly with its mystique and gripping illustrations in addition to its text. Pam i echo the sentiments relating to the writing style. In addition to the fact that the book presents a foundation for any lesson based on the weather. This my dear is in addition to the fact that this story is short the seeming endurance of the book .
