  1. DAFFODILS FROM THE BOOK THE CAT WALKED THROUGH THE CASSEROLE AND OTHER POEMS FOR CHILDREN BY PAMELA ESPELAND AND MARILYN WANIEK.
Ilike the the poem because it shows the love that this child has for her grandmother and the type of relationship that they shared. The colours represents tranquility and a sense of peace, her grandmother is resting and she has come to terms with the fact that she is gone and no longer with them.

  2. I disagree that the boy has come to terms with his grandma's death. From the outset of the poem he wonders what kind of flowers he will turn into when he dies.He still beleives that his grandma is alive despite what his mother and father think. He believes that his grandma has turned into the dafoodils that continue to bloom on her grave and he is convinced becuase they wave to him when he visits the grave. Seen from a child's perspective one gets to see how a child deals with life's inevitabilities.

  3. Miriam i disagree with you that he has not come to terms with his grandmothers death as he he is convinced that she has turned into something beautiful that he can still enjoy even though she is not here. The language used and the descriptions allowed us to connect with how the child is feeling. The poem typically speaks to how we deal with death and the questions that are asked about death especially by children.I also like the fact that the poem is written from a childs perspective and as such children will relate to it readily. This poem can be used at grades three and four.

  4. The language is simple yet profound. we see adults perspectives versus children's perspectives. For example the boy's mother beleives that grandma is in heaven and dad thinks she is in the grave, but the boy believes that she has turned into daffodils. Adults accept things like death, children ask why people get old and die. The pictures do present an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The flowers continue to bloom and the boy continues his relationship with his grandma only in a different way.
