  1. I like Beauty and the Beast. As usual good conquers evil. Now I see the distinction between traditional fantasy and modern fantasy; this one has a known author. The elements are similar though. There is magic (when the beast turns back into himself), the beast lives in a secondary world where there is magic, the theme of good and evil is present, one of the main character (the beast) marries and he and his wife live happily ever after. As is usual with fantasy the ending is very predictable. The characters are believable though father-children relationship etc.

  2. Finally Miriam i am getting in so i will try to do two blogging just in case i cant go back in like yesterday.
This story is modern fantasy and is about a youngman who was turned into a beast and could not be be returned to his normal self unless he gained the love of a woman.
The story is about good triumphing over evil. I also see destiny unfolding in the novel as beauty asked for a rose and her father not mareial things and her father just happpened to pick the rose from this particulaar garden that changed the events of her forever.

  3. Children would love this book as they like the plot centers around a family which is something that they can relate to.The pictuers were great you could see that Beauty was living a life of splendour even though she was living with the beast. The beast is portrayed as a pig which makes the story more believable.
I would use this book to teach descriptive writing and sequencing and is suitable for the for a grade four class.

  4. The illustrations are quite colorful and adequately depicts the setting. where there is sadness the hue darkens and where there is happiness the colors are brought alive. The illustrations all reveal much about the characters for example before the reader actually finds out that the beast is a prince, the place where he lives suggest something about royalty. The story can be read to children from any culture. All children can relate to the family relationships, two persons in love etc. I think this story is suitable for children up to grade six but can be used as a read aloud to smaller children who are not yet reading. Children can learn about friendship and the power of love in this book.
