It is an historical fiction with three different awards. Included in these awards is the Caldecott. The historical aspect of the book is base on the life of a real person -Martin Luther King. He fought for the freedom of Black people using peace and love. In addition it is also fictional because it told from the perspective of the author.

The author use words that help the reader’s mind to create additional visual imagery associated with the Black American historical setting of the book. However, the author did not use figurative language.

There is evidence of sequence of events in the book. This sequence is played out in the author’s depiction of the main character as a child emulating his parent and then becoming a leader.
Its tone is simple language that a child can understand. Language is a mild tone

It is intended for young readers- language is simple and the print is large.
This story can be used in Language Arts class as a supplemental reader for teaching the sub skills like comprehension.
