Hi all
ReplyDeletePony Express
Author: Steven Kroll
Illustrator: Dan Andreasen
"Pony Express" is an historical fiction that gives an overview of how the mailing system started. Though I am not familiar with American Histories, the author did make use of bringing the historical period to life by quoting the actual time each ecvent takes place, making it truly historical. Any reader could follow the timeline from it's inception to present day.
It is obvious that the author never lived at that time as he included references to suggest he researched the facts. Have you noticed the pictures included in the back of the book? Is there any relevance to including the pictures? What do you think about the illustrations? Does it truly captures the author's intent?
Hi Caro, as an adult i love to see pictures included most times included in my reading texts so i was really wondering what happened. At the end of the story i understood the aim of the author. This is an excellent book that can be used for reference across the grades. The mimi museum arranged at the back is beautifully arranged in datelines .The map can be traced simply . I love to see the poster on the front, WANTED! students will see other forms of text. Ver ,what do you think about the illustrations?
ReplyDeleteThe "Pony Express" is a historical book which looks at their mailing/dilivery system long ago and how inefficient it was. Like the author I have no knowledge of that timeline. But I see where the author conducted a research, so as to get his facts straight. The book was very informative and easy to follow. The pictures tells the terraine and climate that the rider encountered on each delivery. I would want to think so. There is this western epic movie like scenario setting like to it. What do you think about the setting?
ReplyDeleteHi ladies,
ReplyDeleteI think the pictures are put in to give a real life look of the actual thing. So from the pictures you would see exactly what the mailroom looked like. The illustration to me puts the fiction in the story. What do you think guys?
Hi Caro, i totally agree with you.The illustrations have created a visual imagery of the story and allows the reader to understand the transition through the varying stages of the history of the U.S. mail from a facinating new perspective.
