  2. Hi Ruth ,
The book "Miss Tiny" is truely a good book. Why it captured the setting of a rural commmuity from which I can relate because I am from a rural community. It also appeal to me emotionally because of the concern I have with older persons living in our community on thier own with no family menbers to take care of them.

  3. Hi Ruth,
In response to the question evaluate the book in term of its genre . I see Miss Tiny has fitting the the contenporary realistic fiction because it deal with the theme of old age and the relationship between older persons and young children.By reading this book children will be able to gain insight into the character of older persons and see themselves though the eyes of the elderly . Hopefully they will be able to be more tolerant of each other.

  4. Hi Ruth,
The character of Miss Tiny and Beeny seem real. Even the naming of these character are common ;most older person are given the title Miss whether they are married or not . Also the name Beeny which refers to any child in rural community which is small in body. The Character of Miss Tiny did not change however her actions ,did because she started warming up to the generosity of the little girl.

  6. Authurine,
I agree that the character of Miss Tiny and Beeny seem real. Tiny is common not only in contemporary realistic fiction books but in some songs also especially Trinidadian calypso.
Beeny Man is popular reggae artist in Jamaica. Hence, I share your view that the names are common.Miss Tiny seemed to have misconceptions of young people, hence, when the girl showed genuine concern for her she attributed her generosity to something else (wanting to steal mangoes). However, there is much evidence in the story which suggest that her character did not change but was able to accept generosity when convinced that negative ulterior motive was absent.
