  1. Dr. Kurjian we made an error with the first 2 blogs. We blogged the wrong books under the wrong genres. The book we are about to blog on is a modern fantasy. Please forgive us.

  2. Sleeping Bobby by Will and Mary Osbourne is actually a traditional story that was given a modern twist.I recognised this becuase i think this is another version of sleeping beauty with a few changes. What do you think?

  3. I too realise that it is a twisted version of the traditional Sleeping Beauty. Maria, I think this is a great srtategy to use with with our students. This will allow them to create stories that suit their cultural backgrounds. What do you think? Which group do you think this books caters to? I think it is suitable for younger children. Do you think your children could gain much from this book.
I think a picture walk could be done with these pictures. The illustrations are cosistent with the words used.

  4. I think this book can be used as part of a lesson as the introductory activity. I would use to teach my ninth grade if I'm going to introduce the genre to pique their interest...This is a simple text to use...then I'd move into something more complex..more at there level.Ilove your idea about using this bool as a model for children to use to create their own stories. This would be an exercise they would enjoy when realise that they can add their own flavour to taste. A picture walk would make an exciting prediction exercise.

  5. Maria, I have learnt so much from this activity. I am now able to teach my children about different genres of books that they can read. I now have a clearer understanding about setting, plot, relevance of illustrations among others. I will be more effective in selecting books for my students. I will still continue to research books so I can enhance my students reading skills.
